Massage education is a considerable investment of time, energy and finances. We are committed to helping our students through every stage of the application and financial aid process. We welcome your questions at any step. FLSM Payment PlanStudents may elect to pay tuition in full prior to the program start date, or may take advantage of our simple payment plan. You may be eligible to borrow full tuition plus up to $6,000 toward living expenses. There are two ways to apply to SLM - through a paper application (provided in acceptance packet) and on line at www.slmfinancial.com. SLM has 3 repayment options: you can start to pay off the loan immediately after the 1st disbursement, you can start making interest-only payments while in school, or you may choose SLM's "Deferred Payment Option" for which you pay only $10 a month for up to 12 months, regardless of payment term (the number of years you have chosen to pay off the loan). There are no prepayment penalties if you choose to pay your loan off early. The money you request for living expenses will be paid directly to you. Contact SLM at: 1-800-559-3220 or www.slmfinancial.com. TERI will allow you to request up to $20,000 to cover tuition and living expenses. The only way to apply to TERI is through the TERI.org website. You may choose from a variety of lenders; Wachovia and Bank of America tend to be the least expensive but they also tend to be more competitive, HSBC Bank USA and M&T Bank tend to have a better approval rate but may cost more. The loan will be processed by TERI and the check will be sent to FLSM co-payable to both the school and borrower (you). Go to Teri.org, click on “Apply Now,” then follow the instructions. Make sure you apply for an “Undergraduate Loan” and “All Majors” under major. In the FLSM acceptance packet (or upon request) we will provide a step-by-step instruction guide to navigating the TERI website. Contact TERI at: 1-800-255-8374 or www.teri.org Both SLM and TERI will allow you to borrow monies for full tuition plus living expenses. They both encourage the use of co-borrowers because it increases the likelihood of approval and decreases potential interest rates. FLSM Scholarship ProgramEach program, FLSM awards three scholarships with the intention of assisting talented and creative individuals in pursuing an education in massage therapy. Recipients are selected based on expressed financial need as well as on their commitment and enthusiasm for enhancing their life and community through the practice of bodywork.
